Hunter, reducing unemployment in Chicago’s Southside

ReEmployment2014Southside Chicagoans can increase their marketability in this tough economic climate by attending a re-employment workshop hosted by State Senator Mattie Hunter (D-Chicago) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security on March 14th.

“The first step to ending unemployment is providing people with the necessary skills to find jobs,” said Hunter, Majority Caucus Whip in the Illinois Senate. “It is a tough job market but with networking, career counseling and interview preparation provided by this workshop, we’ll see a big improvement in employment within the community.”

The re-employment workshop will help attendees with job search and interview preparation, resumes and career counseling. IDES will also show attendees how to best use illinoisjoblink.com in their job search.

Flyer CMS Workshop 1-28-14CMS is partnering with legislators and businesses to provide resources for small businesses at local workshops around the state. 

The Make a Connection: “Connecting Communities to Illinois Business Opportunities” workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Van Buren St., Cultural Center. The Business Enterprise Program, Bureau of Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Payment Program, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Procurement Technical Assistance Centers will give presentations.
